Today The Body Shop, in honor of National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, is alongside with ECPAT USA and The Somaly Mam Foundation handing over the U.S. petition signatures of more than 720,000 U.S. citizens to President of the National Association of Attorneys General, AG Rob McKenna. This petition explains the extent of the public's concern the growing sex trafficking situation affecting such large amounts of children here and around the world. It it a problem that is growing, more than 1.2 million children and young people are exploited every year, something must be done about. Leave it to The Body Shop to step in, in this crusade.
So today at The Body Shop Pacific Place in Seattle Washington The Body Shop's Director of Brand Values Shelley Simmons, stands with President of the National Association of Attorneys General AG Rob McKenna, ECPAT-USA Executive Director Carol Smolenski, and Interim Executive Director of Somaly Mam Foundation, Rigmore Schneider, in the fight against human Trafficking. Human trafficking is the third largest and rapiding growing criminal industry in the world. The always ethical brand The Body Shop takes a stand by handing over this petition to AG Rob McKenna today in what will be the largest campaign in 35 years for The Body Shop.
Today will be the release of the Stop Bag from The Body Shop. The Body Shop in collaboration with Tamara Mellon has designed a limited edition reusable cotton bag with handprints from Mira Sorvino, NicoleKidman, producer Mark Ronson, and chef Jaimie Oliver who have pledged their support.
The Stop Bag will go on sale today for $10, $2 of the sales will go to the campaign partners in an effort to stop this horrific industry and raise awareness. The Stop Bag is not only practical with handles and a shoulder strap, but the cream and pink colors and handprint designs are actually really cute. Most importantly a portion of your cost will be going to an amazing cause.
